Formerly [l=Kobalt Music Recordings Ltd]. Registered as Kobalt Digital Services Limited (12 Jun 2008 – 28 May 2012), then renamed Kobalt Label Services Limited (06 Mar 2017 – 19 Mar 2018).

Founded in 1997, AWAL is a worldwide distribution company. From December 2011 to February 2011, the AWAL group was wholly owned by the [l=Kobalt Music Group Limited] and part of the [l=Kobalt Label Services] division.

In February 2021, [l=Sony Music Entertainment] announced the acquisition of AWAL with pending regulatory approval. The deal was completed in May 2021.
